Weaving Waste

Exploring the traditional jarapa weaving technique

Come join us for a meditative exploration of textile waste!
Collectively, we will process leftover materials while reflecting on the broader implications of textiles and waste in our world.
1. The session begins with a short, accessible talk on the life cycle of synthetic fibers such as polyester, and the environmental and social costs of its widespread use.
2. We will then explore the traditional Spanish jarapa weaving technique, turning fabric scraps into something valuable. Participants are invited to bring their own discarded textiles or work with provided materials.
3. Alongside the weaving practice, dialogue and holistic thinking is encouraged, sharing sustainable practices, both for materials and communities.
Together, we explore how waste can become a thread of connection and transformation!
